SMIAC The Soil Mechanics Information Analysis
Center (SMIAC) is one of eight Corps of Engineers information
centers managed or sponsored by the
U.S. Army Engineer
Research and Development Center (ERDC).
It was established in 1966 to acquire, analyze, evaluate, condense,
and disseminate the world's literature in the subject areas of
soil mechanics, rock mechanics, engineering geology, seismology,
geophysics, hydrogeology, and earthquake engineering. Work is
directed primarily toward Corps
of Engineers civil works and military missions. Priority
is given to agencies of the DoD, although services are available
to the scientific community, subject to facility and manpower limitations.
