Patents and Licenses

Scientists and engineers of the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory (GSL) work singly or in collaboration with other researchers to develop technologies that benefit the Corps of Engineers, other federal agencies, and the private sector. Many of these inventions have been patented, and several have been licensed for use by the private sector.

The ERDC Laboratories continuously assess the commercial potential of their technologies. Patent, trademark, or other intellectual protection is pursued for those technologies deemed as being commercially viable.

ERDC can partner with private industry, academia, state and local governments, federal agencies, and other entities in a number of ways. For details on these mechanisms, visit the ERDC Web site.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office offers World Wide Web access to bibliographic and full-text patent databases at http://patft.uspto.gov.
